Can you be clear about which wallet? Monero GUI?

MyMonero desktop

Try to remember when you may have been hacked. And strengthen your digital security immediately.

If you are using MyMonero, is there a possibility that you have accessed via a browser at some point? Or some software you have installed could have access to your clipboard (copy/paste), and if you log in using your mnemonic seed there is a chance you have a problem there.

Sorry, but unfortunately there is not much that can be done to retrieve information about the transaction.

Next time trying using the Monero GUI instead. Privacy is hard, but it’s worth it.

Sorry buddy. Try to think what went wrong as it had to be user error somewhere along the way and accept it's simply gone.

Thanks, I've already accepted that I got hacked in some way. I'm just looking to get more information from that unfamiliar transaction. Like to see where it went.

[–]Slade_Duelyst 1 punto2 puntos  (3 hijos)

Its monero, you cant track it.

I have a transaction hash and view keys of my wallet. Can't I at least see where the xmrs went from the transaction?

[–]germaphober 2 puntos3 puntos  (1 hijo)

Nope. That's the whole point of using XMR.

Was this a mobile or desktop wallet? And what OS?

[–]novajammin[S] 0 puntos1 punto  (0 hijos)

I get that the whole point of monero is to hide your transaction details from prying eyes. But to have your own transactions hidden from you seems impractical. It's like having your own ledger you can't read

Gives us please some details of how that may could happen (which hack) so that we can learn from this.

[–]novajammin[S] 0 puntos1 punto  (1 hijo)

I don't know how the hack happened. But I suspect that I had a compromised mymonero desktop wallet.

It would be also interesting for yourself to investigate what really happened so that you won't make the same mistake again. I could imagine you downloaded and launched a compromised file.

Mymonero wallet is an online wallet. An online wallet can steal your XMR.

Next time, try to set up offline signing machine for monero with monero CLI wallet. I have done so. I haven't lost any XMR so far.

Buy a laptop, apply full-disk encryption to it, and dedicate it to offline signing.

Whenever you need to upgrade or add softwares, apply full-disk encryption again, and re-install everything. Applying full-disk encryption again makes previous data inaccessible.

What do you mean by offline signing? Is this similar to a cold wallet? Can you point me to some resources on setting up such a setup?
